Multiplication Facts: 1 Group
The 1 Group strategy below is taken from Five Times Five Is Not Ten by Susan Greenwald, MA Ed. You can find more about the workbook and author here.
Work through 1 Group with your child using the links to the worksheets for practice and review.
Tell your child to read the math fact as "1 group of n" e.g. "1 group of 1, 1 group of 2, 1 group of 3, 1 group of 4, and so on."
Direct your child to use manipulatives (e.g. counters, crayons, buttons, etc.) to show 1 group of 1, 1 group of 2, 1 group of 4, 1 group of 9, and so on.

Use the worksheets below for more practice with 1 Group combined with addition and subtraction.
The practice pages may include addition and/or subtraction facts mixed with the multiplication facts. Direct attention to the signs, and explain and show with manipulatives that these signs mean different things.
