NAEP Questions

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), aka "the Nation's Report Card," provides an extensive source of math questions that have been released for free use. The question bank includes an excellent search and compilation features that allow printable tests to be created for quiz, review, or any other other similar purpose.

How to "build" your printable math test

  1. Visit the National Assessment of Educational Progress siteexternal site icon
  2. Use the one of the search options two of which are:
    • Quick Search - Select "Mathematics" and either 4th, 8th, or 12th grade
    • Advanced Search - allows the search to be refined by question type, difficult and by Mathematical Content Area. e.g. Number properties and operations, Geometry, Measurement, Algebra, Data analysis and probability
  3. Select Questions - page through the listing using the 21-40, 41-60, etc, links and then use either the Add all Questions option or select individually in the In Folder column
  4. Click the To Print Folder link once your selection is complete
  5. Select your print options - you can include answer keys, mathematical content area information, among other things
  6. Preview the math test and print when ready

The process is remarkably functional and easy to use. The best plan is just to experiment with it for a few moments to get the printable math test that best meets your needs.
